With over 20 years of experience, PacifiCare of Oregon is committed to providing quality health care and superior customer service to its members at affordable prices. They offer a variety of health plan options including health maintenance organizations (HMOs) and preferred provider organizations (PPOs). For no extra charge, PacifiCare offers special services like baby care, educational programs, and diabetes care.
PacifiCare HMOs and PPOs
PacifiCare focuses its level of health care on managed care. This includes using both Health Maintenance Organizations and Preferred Provider Organizations. With both systems, members can choose a primary physician who may refer them to specialists in the network. PPOs allow members to use medical services outside of the network, but the member will likely pay a majority of the cost.
Specialized Plans from PacifiCare
PacifiCare offers specialized plans to their members, including SignatureOptions and SignatureFreedom. SignatureOption allows you to choose any physician you want and no referrals are required. As well, most in-office visits and preventative services are covered by a small co-payment. SignatureFreedom is a less expensive option that gives members access to a larger number of physicians and medical facilities. It can also be used in conjunction with a health savings account (HSA).
Premiums are calculated on an individual basis and are dependant on the member’s age, gender, place of residence, current health status, and whether or not you use tobacco. A medical underwriter will review all of the above criteria before offering a premium.
Recently, PacifiCare of Oregon was honored for its Taking Change of Diabetes program, which addresses the challenges associated with managing and controlling diabetes. They were awarded the National Exemplary Practice Award by AHIP (America’s Health Insurance Plans).
