Most of us today associate dream interpretation with psychoanalysis. The world of dreams applies only to the psychotherapy branch of medicine. However, perhaps we should take a page from the book of ancient Greek medicine and listen to what our dreams might be telling us about the state of our bodies as well as the state of our minds.

Requiring Americans to purchase health insurance is an absolute joke. It cannot and will not work. And either the government will be ticketing many, many people for not having health insurance, or it will find the idea—if it becomes law—going the same direction as Hillary Clinton’s 1993 health care proposal: into the trash.

You and I may think of our health care system as an entirely modern construction, comprised of the latest scientific discoveries developed in space age style labs to keep our human bodies going longer and better than ever before.

Having a preexisting condition will automatically disqualify people from many health plans. Insurance companies simply cannot afford to take on the increased risk. This means the very people who need health insurance the most are having the most difficulty obtaining coverage.

Sen. John McCain is a presidential candidate who used to be at the forefront of both the presidential polls and of ideas regarding the health care industry.

Not anymore.

McCain in a health care forum this week didn’t discuss any widespread plan on this most volatile campaign issue. Instead, he addressed several key points and stated some facts.

The health care system in the United States is undeniably a disaster. Never before has our country’s health care system been in such dire disarray—and it needs repaired sooner rather than later.

A recent edition of the Journal of the American Medical Association found that the United States spends $6,000 per citizen on average on health insurance. This amount is more than any other country spends on health insurance per person and is about 16 percent of the United States’ gross domestic product. This figure is truly out of control.
