Blue Cross of Idaho began in 1945 with the simple concept of a local plan providing affordable, prepaid physician and hospital services to select Idaho employees. By 1948, the plan was offered to the general public, and since that time Blue Cross of Idaho has kept pace with the rapid changes in the evolution of health insurance.

Now, in partnership with the Blue Cross brand, Blue Cross of ID provides affordable health plan options to Idaho citizens. Blue Cross of Idaho also remains actively involved in communities throughout Idaho with their nonprofit Blue Cross Idaho Foundation for Health, which seeks innovative solutions to health care problems. Additionally, the company helps promote wellness for all Idahoans through Blue Crew, a volunteer recruitment organization for wellness and prevention events year round.
