Cobalt Corporation
The Cobalt Corporation was a merger between Blue Cross Blue Shield United of Wisconsin and United Wisconsin Services. In September of 2003, California-based WellPoint Health Networks, a for-profit network of health providers, acquired Cobalt.
Today, Cobalt is part of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS), a group of managed care providers that serves 11 million members in nine states.
