John Edwards Speaks on Health Care in 2008

In a presidential health care forum, candidate John Edwards moved up on the block by what he had to say about health care. Being for universal health care is a must for candidates in this election cycle—and he is also for more support for HIV/AIDS patients and research which is a very good quality in a candidate. Edwards claims to be the first presidential candidate to have a full plan for universal health care coverage including HIV/AIDS patients.

Edwards wants to expand Medicaid and the SCHIP program to provide tax credits in order to cover more individuals. He wants to enact regional pools across the country to give Americans lower-costing health care, and he wants to require businesses to insure their employees. Edwards wants families who don’t have insurance to be able to get coverage at an affordable price, and he wants families who currently have insurance to be able to pay less for better insurance options. Edwards’ health care plan would expand the programs to provide drug treatments to poorer countries in order to fight HIV/AIDS. He also supports greater efforts in developing greater and greater HIV/AIDS drugs.

Senator Edwards was grilled on health care issues by interviewers during the forum and he didn’t flinch. Edwards has proven to be a major player in the presidential election in 2008 and proves to the American people everything he said in this forum. While universal health care is a popular topic among all the candidates, Edwards appears to be among those on the cutting edge of the issue.
