Good News for the Uninsured!
Some good news lately when it comes to health insurance and individuals who aren’t covered: It seems some health insurance companies are tailoring specialized policies toward younger Americans who don’t have insurance. Aetna and Wellpoint (owner of Blue Cross) have started offering health insurance policies specifically for those who aren’t covered. These policies of Aetna and Wellpoint look at younger people as wanting to look good as well as feel good, so they’re offering health insurance packages that include teeth whitenings and fitness center memberships or discounts.
But it seems the younger population isn’t the only sector that’s getting attention. Both Aetna and Wellpoint are looking to older people who are increasingly uninsured. Those aged 50 to 64 are the second biggest age group that is unlikely to have insurance coverage, because they’re often stuck between no longer working and qualifying for Medicare. These two companies are planning on unveiling new health insurance packages tailored to this age group in the upcoming months.
The young people and those in the 50 to 64 age group say they are excited about these changes, because they’re able to save money on things they would typically spend other money on and it’s all included in their health insurance policies. Plus, having health insurance coverage, even if you have a high deductible, is protection in case anything catastrophic happens in your life.
